Danielle Bloom Bio

Danielle Bloom was singing in the womb. So says her mother, but there's little reason to doubt that speculation. Her voice was opening doors for her as early as kindergarten, when she charmed the principal enough with her rendition of "This Little Birdie On My Window" that he let her into kindergarten a year early.  Her father, a pastor, recognized her talent and had her singing at church festivals all across the country, recording her first album at age 16.

Later, Danielle signed a record deal to make dance-pop albums.  This led to two albums and a major tour including opening for  the Backstreet Boys, NSync, and Vanilla Ice. Danielle has performed the national anthem at several sporting events including Atlanta Braves games. After conquering so many markets at such a young age, the world was open for Danielle, but she realized her true calling was rock n' roll.

Currently recording in Detroit, Memphis, and Nashville, Danielle's forthcoming album is straight-up rock. She has co-written the songs with a number of collaborators, including her brother, Aaron Julison (bass, Kid Rock). Ultimately, she classifies the album as being about self-reflection. Says Danielle, "I've written about things I've gone through personally and the way I'm feeling  at this moment in my life. I want to live as authentically as I can and hope to inspire others to do the same."

It helps that Danielle is inspiring others through her powerhouse vocals and introspective lyrics.  Often compared to Janis Joplin or Joan Jett, Danielle's voice is much bigger than the woman herself and full of the pyrotechnics that make natural stars. Known for her energetic performances, Danielle says that her "favorite part of this musical journey is performing. I love being on stage and rocking it out. I'm known for my high-energy stage presence, hitting high notes, and holding them out for a long time. Her talent extends to the musical side of things; Danielle plays piano and is learning guitar.

But the songwriting is perhaps where one can learn the most about Danielle. Despite her capacity to rock, she hasn't left her sweetness and optimism behind: "I want to inspire people in a positive way with my music. We are all capable of anything and life is hard; let's help each other." Danielle reinforces these ideas by living them in her own life. After suffering through anorexia, she has now joined forces with the Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee. She considers it part of her message "for women to stand up and be strong. I want to encourage them to know that they are beautiful and amazing and not to have their identity wrapped up in what  a man thinks about them."

These messages manifest in songs like "Revolution," which encourages a revolution of authenticity. In it, Danielle sings, "Stop complaining 'bout your situation/ Let's start a revolution, you and me."   But there is a softer side, such as the breakup song, "You," which acknowledges the vulnerability that a breakup brings but features a character who ultimately finds her strength through learning of her ability to survive.  Her feminism shows in "Tell Me Why," a powerful song that takes womanizers to task.

Danielle plans to release her forthcoming album independently. For more information, visit http://www.myspace.com/daniellebloomrockandroll or contact Danielle at daniellebloomrock@yahoo.com.
